چکیده

ABSTRACT We present simultaneous, multicolour optical light curves of the companion star to black-widow pulsar PSR J2051−0827, obtained approximately 10 yr apart using ULTRACAM and HiPERCAM, respectively. The confirm previously reported asymmetry in which leading hemisphere appears be brighter than trailing hemisphere. HiPERCAM curves, however, do not show this asymmetry, demonstrating that whatever mechanism is responsible for it varies on time-scales a decade or less. fit symmetrical with direct-heating model derive system parameters, finding an orbital inclination $55.9^{+4.8}_{-4.1}$ degrees, good agreement radio-eclipse constraints. find half pulsar’s spin-down energy converted luminosity, resulting temperatures ranging from $5150^{+190}_{-190}$ K day side $2750^{+130}_{-150}$ night star. close filling its Roche lobe ($f_{\rm RL} =0.88^{+0.02}_{-0.02}$) has mass $0.039^{+0.010}_{-0.011}$ M⊙, giving mean density $20.24^{+0.59}_{-0.44}$ g cm−3 apsidal motion constant range 0.0036 < k2 0.0047. values are consistent those brown dwarfs, but implies significantly more centrally condensed internal structure typical such objects.

Identification of the Optical Counterpart of Fermi Black Widow Millisecond Pulsar Psr J1544+4937

We report the optical identification of the companion to the Fermi black widow millisecond pulsar PSR J1544+4937. We find a highly variable source on Keck LRIS images at the nominal pulsar position, with 2 magnitude variations over orbital period in the B, g, R, and I bands. The nearly achromatic light curves are difficult to explain with a simply irradiated hemisphere model, and suggest that t...

Constraints on Neutron Star Parameters from Burst Oscillation Light Curves of the Accreting Millisecond Pulsar Xte J1814-338

Detailed modeling of the millisecond brightness oscillations during thermonuclear bursts from low mass X-ray binaries can provide important information about neutron star structure. Until now the implementation of this idea has not been entirely successful, largely because of the negligible harmonic content in burst oscillation lightcurves. However, the recent discovery of non-sinusoidal burst ...

Constraints on Compact Star Parameters from Burst Oscillation Light Curves of the Accreting Millisecond Pulsar Xte J1814-338

Detailed modeling of the millisecond brightness oscillations from low mass X-ray binaries during thermonuclear bursts can provide us with important information about compact star parameters. Until now the implementation of this idea has not been entirely successful, largely because of the negligible amount of harmonic content in burst oscillation lightcurves. However, the recent discovery of un...

Optical identification of the companion to PSR J 1911 − 5958 A , the pulsar binary in the outskirts of NGC 6752

We report on the identification of the optical counterpart of the binary millisecond pulsar PSR J1911−5958A, located in the outskirts of the globular cluster NGC 6752. At the position of the pulsar we find an object with V = 22.08, B − V = 0.38, U − B = −0.49. The object is blue with respect to the cluster main sequence by 0.8 magnitudes in B − V. We argue that the object is the white dwarf com...
